Domestic Violence is not a gendered crime.

It is easy even for most politicians just to read what the title says and believe that all must be okay. After all, Istanbul Convention Action against violence against women and domestic violence must be good for society, right? Well, it would be if the content of the convention echoed the title and kept to Read more…

A set of wrong beliefs Some of this article is an adaptation from a conference presentation made at Biel, Switzerland, on 14 August 1991. Sadly, despite being presented almost 30 years ago at a world forum, these myths and nonsense are still circulated. If anything, now they have been around for so long, they have Read more…

Under Egyptian Personal Status law, although the father is considered to be the guardian of his children, the mother has the right to custody of both male and female children until they reach fifteen years of age. This is applied even if the mother is foreign and intends to take the children out of the country.

The mother kept demanding more, however.

At one time, she made a video of her beating the child. In a short clip, the boy’s skinny body appears, his tears overflowing as he was severely beaten by a woman asking him in a loud voice to call his father, “Say, come, take me .. the spirit of living with him threw you like a dog.” It seems the threat was to pay more, or to see his son beaten.

On the International Day on gender violence, which was held last Monday, 25 November 2019, the Spanish HazteOir.org (be heard) media sent the message that “violence does not have gender”. Researching Reform asked its members to describe what was missing in the Family Courts .. in just one word! Understandably, many found the task too difficult: it is far easier to write an essay on the subject. However, their readers’ responses are worth a peruse: If you feel you’d like to write an essay on Read more…

Japanese women are attacking men in increasing numbers, sometimes fatally.
Overall, Japan has seen a decrease in suicide in recent years. However, for men, there is a distinct increase.

France’s Ministry of Equality is considering legislation which punishes partners who so abuse their partner that they commit suicide. If other countries were to follow suit, men as well as women would start to get better legal protection from their abusive partner.
