On the 18th January, the USA celebrates Martin Luther King Day with a public holiday. The 15th is Martin Luther King’s birthday.
We congratulate the United States for ending apartheid. This recent change in their history will eventually open up their society to one in which everyone can participate.
Martin Luther King, like his namesake the monk Martin Luther, made great changes in society. But he didn’t do it alone and we should also bear some thought to all those others before him, alongside him, and after him, who struggled to enforce the constitution to apply to everyone equally.
We congratulate them all.
